[ PROJECT OVERVIEW ]

An award-winning landmark commercial building in Clerkenwell — now LinkedIn's London headquarters — with Schüco curtain wall systems, high-performance windows and doors delivered to BREEAM Outstanding standard.

The Ray at 119 Farringdon Road is one of Clerkenwell's most celebrated recent commercial developments — a 100,000 sq ft, seven-storey mixed-use scheme designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris and now home to LinkedIn's London headquarters. Delta Facades installed the premium Schüco curtain wall systems that define the building's contemporary character, together with the high-performance windows and doors that make the building work day to day. The facade's craftsmanship was recognised at the Schüco Excellence Awards 2019, and the wider scheme achieved a BREEAM Outstanding sustainability rating — a rare double.

[ METHODOLOGY ]

The Schüco curtain wall was installed floor-by-floor from a wraparound mast-climber system, with every panel benchmarked against a sample bay signed off jointly with the architect. Deliveries were sequenced to a live traffic management plan to keep Farringdon Road moving throughout the programme.

[ CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS ]
  • Sensitive Clerkenwell setting adjacent to 19th-century listed buildings
  • Meeting BREEAM Outstanding facade thermal targets
  • Achieving award-standard finish across a large facade area
  • Tight urban logistics on a busy Farringdon Road corridor
[ MATERIALS ]
  • Schüco stick curtain walling with high-performance IGUs
  • Aluminium windows and entrance doors
